Welcome to the Texas Association of Creative Writing Teachers.

Founded in the mid-seventies, before the recent expansion of university creative writing programs, TACWT has served the important purpose of bringing together teachers of creative writing from across this large state. Together, we support each other in our creative work and in the teaching of creative writing.

Each year, usually in late September, we hold a conference in a Texas city, where we read from our current work, discuss the pedagogy of teaching creative writing, and celebrate the winners of our student writing contests. We invite you to learn more about us.
